The recently released QS World University Rankings by Subject 2020 features 500 of the top higher education institutions to study economics.
The QS University Rankings by Subject are based on four indicators: academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper and the H-index (a way of measuring the productivity and published work of a scientist or scholar). Top universities for economics in the US and Canada
The United States is home to 103 economics schools featured in the 2020 rankings, including the world’s best economics and econometrics program, at Harvard University, which retains the top place position for its third consecutive year, earning a perfect score for employer reputation. The US also has seven universities in this year’s top ten for economics and econometrics, as well as 21 universities in the top 50. Outside of the top 10, notable universities include Columbia University (11th), New York University (NYU, up three places to 15th) and Northwestern University (13th).
Going north to Canada, we find 19 universities in the economics and econometrics schools ranking, with two in the top 50 worldwide. The University of British Columbia (22nd place) overtakes the University of Toronto (24th place) this year after climbing seven places in the rankings.
